Four different examples of media text. One for each of the following

Personal Identity: These are all 8 movies, including deathly hallows pt 1 & 2. These count towards personal identity as people can relate with the characters which are shown in the movie. And they may also be able to relate to the situations which are presented in the movie. Those who would take a preferred reading are those who like the magic / sic-fi genres when it comes to film as there are similar elements of these sorts of shows.

Information: This is a magazine which is aimed towards younger people between the ages of 15-25 who are into gaming on a PC. The magazine contains information about upcoming games and tech. Such as 'how to build a PC' or certain strategies for a new games which make them easier. Those who would take a preferred reading to this are those who enjoy gaming on their PC and they also enjoy reading about new tech news which they could need for the future. Those who would take a negotiated reading are those who play games, although it may not be on the PC, or they annoy tech news but aren't interested in information about the new games. Those who would take a oppositional reading are those who don't own a PC or enjoy playing games as they wouldn't understand the terminally which is used in the magazine.

Entertainment:
The inbetweeners movie 1&2. This move is made to be a comedy which uses mostly rude innuendo's which create the comedy in the show. They also use awkward situations in the movies to also add humour. People who would take a preferred reading to this are male teenagers from the ages of 15-20. As most of the characters in the movie are in this age group also, and they will be able to understand allot of the terminology which is used in the movie which people who are older may not be able to understand. Those who would take a negotiated reading are those who are a bit older, maybe the age of 30, as they may have had similar situations when they were a kid but the humour which is used in the movies may not relate to them. Those who would take a oppositional reading would be older women as they wouldn't find the situations and humour which are used in the movies as funny. And they may be against the humour as they find it 'insulting'.

Social interaction: The show called one piece is a show which is animated in Japan. A long running show which currently has 731 episodes. This allows for social interaction as allot of people I know have watched the show, this meaning that we can talk among friend groups about the show and what we will think will happen. Those who would take a preferred reading to the show are those who like animated shows or other TV shows which are similar. Those who would take a Negotiated reading to the show are those who like Cartoons, those who like Movies or TV shows which are based around pirates or super powers. As this show uses them inside. Those who take a oppositional reading are those who don't like animated shows and are not a fan of Pirate related shows.

CD cover analysis

This is a CD cover by the electronic group called "Tobu". From this picture you can see that the song name and the two groups which helped make this song are in a smaller font in the middle of the picture. The picture itself shows red mountains near the bottom with what looks like electric blue clouds above, this showing that the genre of the music is electronic as the clouds are electric blue which shows that they could be made up of electricity. You can also see a gap in the clouds which represents the sun coming through which directly links to the name of the song "sunburst". From this CD cover I can learn that the picture or image which is shown on the cover on the CD can have a direct link to the genre of the music and perhaps the name of the songs.

This CD cover clearly shows the genre of the music in the CD cover, this is done by first of all: The font of the writing at the top, as it can be seen as quite digital and computer like. Second of all the image in the middle shows 4 cubes which have glowing edges and no faces on the cube, this overall look is quite digital also. The clear image which shows the genre of he CD is the image at the bottom of the CD which clearly shows what looks like a strand of blue light which could represent electricity, giving a hint to the genre of music which the CD is. Also the background on the image is lots of small squares which seem to be on a flat surface, some of the squares seem to be missing which could maybe show rendering? A trend which is noticeable with CD covers for electronic music is that there are no people on the CD covers, no artists names are shown on the front or themselves are shown. Other than maybe the back cover.

This is a CD cover for bastille's album which is titled "All This Bad Blood". The CD cover may show the genre of the music through the colours used in the image which seem quite simple, other than the car which has colours of black and white. This provides more of a retro feel to the CD which may show that the genre of music is older than the music which is used today. The actual genre of the music is Indie Pop/Rock. Rock being a older genre f music which is become outdated in modern society.

Images for inspiration

The image here shows a cheetah which is shown with blue and white colouring, a similar image could be used on my CD cover as the colour of the cheetah can represent the genre of the music as electronic and the actual cheetah could show the speed of the music as a cheetah is the latest land animal in the world.

The image above shows what seems to be a lake just before sunrise/after sunset. The colour of the sky and the lake is a bright blue with the lake changing to a more orange like colour towards the mountain. This could show a genre of more chill out music as there isn't much energy which is shown in the image. This image could also show that the CD may contain more than one song as the image is split into 3 sections. This image can help me make a CD cover as the image can show allot out the contents of the CD especially with a title and effects added to it.

Thesis an example of a CD in which is hard to judge the genre by the song name, also as the CD doesn't show the artists who made the song. However by analysing the image you can judge what genre of music this is. For example the blue colour effects with a starry sky could show that the genre of music is what is known as Future Bass or Electronic. Future bass as the CD shows stars which are often accosted with space travel and the future. The image could also suggest that the song changes as it goes from clouds to a starry sky. Meaning that the song may have a "drop". The genre of music is actually electronic which could be seen through the colours of the image.

Representation

Representation in The Inbetweeners

The inbetweeners is a tv programme which represents the age of around 16-20, this is because they are shown in a school and this means that the comedy used can relate to those in the age group. The class shown is hard to find as they are school students but going from the characters families they are around lower-middle class working class which is the large majority of the population in England. There is no race or religion which is shown, this may be due to what is called "secularisation" which is when religion is becoming less important in todays society so it may not need to be shown in todays society. The Region which is shown in the in-betweeners is England, they stereotype the characters to match the Stereotype of British youths, this adds to the humour of the programme as it allows people to connect with the programme. The events/issues which are shown with the programme are the fact that they are all trying to get a girlfriend and they are all failing. The gender which the show is aimed at is male, however the humour can work for both genders. The humour is aimed more towards men as the problems which they face are more understandable for men.

Film :- Sinister

Sinister is a horror movie which is aimed toward the audience of 15 to 30, this is the most common viewing group for horror movies as those of an older age make up a small percentage of those who go to see it at the cinema. It does not show any particular race/religion/region unless you count that the movie is set in america although this doesn't make much of a difference for the viewers. The class which the movie may be representing is the middle class as the film shows those who live in a decent sized house which shows that they are a middle class family, although the movie does also appeal to those who are below middle class as the movie is a horror. This movie is aimed towards both genders as both genders are represented in the movie.

Magazine :- mens health, this is most likely aimed at the class of middle class and below, this is as those who are upper class can afford their own personal trainers instead of getting health tips from magazines. It represents those who are ages of 20-40 through those shown on the front cover. It represents men.

Analyse 2 magazines (Success Facebook age) Vouge (Adele) Fantastic four (2015) Agent 47 (2015)

Who is the audience? The socio economic group in which this magazine is aiming towards is probably fro the groups C and below, this is because it features someone who is popular in social media and the main social media users are from the age of 15 to 25, and they are usually C group and below as they have not yet reached a proper career path and are most likely students which are group E.

The Gender in which this magazine is aiming towards is most likely men, however women can also read this as a secondary audience. This magazine is aimed towards men as it says "Jeff Gordon life at 180mph" This may be as Jeff Gordon is a racer, and racing is predominantly a male sport, this is also reinforced as it talks about male Male reporters "Bob Woodruff" Returning from the front which most likely means war.

Who is the audience? The audience is most likely fro the age group of 20 - 35 this is as the magazine features more modern singers, this can be related to by the younger age groups. The gender aimed towards is women, this is as the magazine says "One woman hikes her way through heartbreak" this shows that the magazine is aimed towards women as it is showing women's problems such as "spring looks". The socio-economic age group is probably B to C2 this is as the magazine talks about fashion in which only certain groups can afford, also the magazine sells expensive products which people in the D and E groups won't be able to afford.

Movies posters;

Who is the audience? The audience's age group is most likely from 16 to 40, this is as the movie franchise is well known. The poster it's-self shows no further information other than the year the movie will come out and the name of the movie. This is as the fantastic 4 franchise is well known and the actors are not needed to be displayed for the movie to become popular.
The gender of the audience can be both genders although is may be more men as the movie is an action movie which features 3 male characters (Counting the thing) allowing them to have more to relate to within the movie.
The socio-economic group which the movie is aimed towards is probably the mainstream audience of C and below, however B groups may watch this as the franchise is popular.

Who is the Audience?
The age of the audience can vary from the ages 16 to 40, this is because the movie is based of a popular gaming franchise called "hitman" this meaning the movie will appeal to the younger age groups. The movie will also appeal to those in the older age group as it is a action movie which is similar to others which have came out.
The gender which the movie aims at is most likely male as it features shooting and death all in an action movie. Women may watch it along with other people and will still make up a large proportion of the viewers.
The socio-economic group which the movie aims at is most likely C and below, this is as the movie hasn't got an intellectual story line and you just have to watch the movie to enjoy it, no thinking involved.

Cradle to Grave - Episode 3 Media analysis

Lighting: The effects of lighting on a scene, this can be light through weather or objects such as lamps.

Camera: The camera angle, this ca be close up expressions of a face or camera shots of important factors in a show.

Mise-en scene: This can be what the characters are wearing, for example older clothes may represent a older character or a show set in the past.

Sound: Sound can work with lighting to set the mood for a scene, the music used may relay a feeling or emotion to the audience.

The beginning of the program has a Joyful sound to it with the music playing this is to ease the audience into the program by showing that the people in the camera shot are happy. The camera shows A man and a woman walking through a rural area near flats, there are children on bikes and running around to show that the area shown is nice. The lighting at the beginning is bright to also show that the area is nice. The man and woman are wearing casual clothes to present that the area shown is casual. After this the camera shot moves to a group of youths which are shown in a dim light, almost making them look dark. The sound changes to a commentary which makes light of the situation although it would seem bad otherwise. They are wearing normal clothes to show that they are a normal group of teenagers. The camera shot clearly shows what is happening. The camera shot then jumps to a living room which is shown in a bright lighting clearly showing the faces of those in the camera shot. People are the talking about what happened at the time the boy is talking about. Later on it shows the two boys sitting in the living room of the house going through old music disks, the camera shows the scene in a more comedic way, when one boy says that they can be bought for 50p the camera shows the current value of the CD at £1,500. The lighting in the room is bright to show that the situation is casual and comedic. The mise-en-scene so far shows the time period of the show, this is through hat the characters are wearing and the technology in which they own. The camera angles are natural and fixed and the comedy is aimed towards modern viewers as it makes older technology look futuristic. The cars are shown clearly in shots to establish the time period more clearly. The time in which the show is set is also shown through the narrative of the characters in the show. For example he owes £100 for a video recorder which doesn't seem like too much now but was worth allot more in the time. The camera angles tend to be fixed, for example the camera may show an up-close shot of the face to specify the expression of the character which aids in understanding how they are feeling. The other camera shots seem to jump back and forth between those in conversation to show the ones who are talking. So far the lighting seems to be bright in general which reinforces the fact that the show is intended to be seen as a comedy. The lighting changes depending on the mood of the scene, for example when they are trying to steal wine from the docks they do it at night which means there is minimum lighting on the set. This sets the mood for the scene in which the new security guards talk about the the fact that the dock workers may lose their jobs soon if they don't take the £1500 they have been offered to leave. Overall the lighting used has been presented to show the mood of a scene. The camera angle has been fixed to those who are talking and zoom-ins on the expressions of the characters in a scene, this is to allow the audience to clearly see the current emotions of characters in the show. Miss-en-scene is used to show the time period of the show, for example the clothes that the actors and actresses are wearing are from a while ago and aren't likely to be worn in todays society, this shows the fact that the show is set in the past. Also the colours which are used on the set can also be seen as to set the mood, the colours are mostly bright. E.g. Green walls and cream wallpaper, this can show that the area which they are in is a happy environment. There are very little sound effects which are used during the show. This can show that the show is shown to be natural and is meant to reflect the time period and using no special sound effects shows a sense of realism in the show. Other than sound effects most of the show contains joking among other people which confirms the fact that the show is a comedy.

The game is aimed towards both men and women as it is a simple game with no real gender perforation. The socio-economic model group is probably aimed towards groups C and below as it is a game which you can play in your free time to de-stress. The game attracts the audience through casual gameplay which is fun. Anyone who plays games would take a preferred view to the game as it is easy to learn and relates to lots of other games on the market. The oppositional view would be of older people or those who don't play games as they are not used to games of the style and they won't be able to play it without practice.

TV show: The big bang theory.

The audience for this show is for people from the age of 15 to 40 as it is a show which poses adult problems and humour which means it appeals to both younger ages and older ages. This show is aimed towards both genders. The socio-economic model group is for B and below, this is because the show is quite intellectual and has comedy so all groups can understand and watch. The use of this programme is the de-stress as it is on after most people finish work. Anyone who enjoys comedy will enjoy the show.
